Grift is actually an old (in postmodern terms) word. It's usage, however, has reemerged in the past few years and is now quite popular. It is used as a noun (and, in that case, equates to "graft") or a verb. In the latter case, according to Dictionary.com, it can be used as a transitive or as an intransitive verb. Wiktionary classifies it as a slang term. I have yet to see it used as a transitive verb.
