Demisexual

I haven't been able to find a definition of "demisexual" that makes logical sense.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary gives a noun definition and an adjective definition. Neither definition is implicit in the component terms "demi" and "sexual" combined. It's as if the people who introduced the term could not find an appropriate component to clarify a distinct type of sexuality.

Let's take a look at the details. Here's the noun definition: "a person who feels sexual attraction towards another person only after establishing an emotional bond with that person."

Notes:

(1) I deliberately emphasized only after since that seems to specify the key distinction from normal sexual attraction.

(2) A normal/average person can establish an emotional bond with someone through a wide variety of shared interests, experiences, beliefs, etc., whether that person is a member of the same or opposite sex.

(3) A normal/average person can find another person sexually attractive in the absence of any common interests, experiences, beliefs, etc.

(4) Sexual attraction often leads to curiosity about another person's basic interests, affiliations, etc. - leading to approaching that person to strike up a conversation or to discuss that person with a mutual acquaintance, etc.

(5) The prefix "demi" means "half", so combining the parts leads to half sexual. How that leads to only after is a mystery to me.
